Xiaomi Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus May Launch Simultaneously

The Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform was officially unveiled by Qualcomm in the previous week. It goes without saying that the forthcoming flagship phones releasing in 2018 will be fueled by Snapdragon 845. The Xiaomi Mi 7 is expected to be the first Snapdragon 845 phone by a Chinese firm. Fresh information claims that Xiaomi will be launching the Mi 7 in large and small sizes and both of them would be hitting the market simultaneously.

This year Xiaomi had launched 5.15-inch Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship. Soon after the launch of Mi 6, the rumor mill was speculating that the Chinese firm would be releasing Mi 6 Plus too at some point this year. It is speculated that the company could not launch it because of the lack of Snapdragon 835 chipset. However, the Chinese company is pegged to unveil Mi 7 as well as Mi 7 Plus next year.

The Mi 7 is expected to arrive with a 5.65-inch display whereas the Mi 7 Plus may house a large 6.01-inch screen. Both the phones are rumored to support 18:9 aspect ratio. The Mi 7 may include a battery of 3,200mAh capacity whereas the larger Mi 7 Plus may feature a 3,500mAh battery. Both the phones are likely to arrive with metal and glass combination design. These smartphones are also rumored to support wireless charging.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are available on Oppomart, start at $139

The Snapdragon 845 chipset and 6 GB of RAM are likely to be driving force for both phones. These smartphones are expected to house dual rear cameras featuring Sony IMX380 and IMX350 sensors. The photography experience on the Mi 7 duo will be enriched through AI.

Since Xiaomi is expected to receive adequate stock of Snapdragon 845 for Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus, it may not have any problem in making both phones available for purchase at the same time. Hence, the Mi 7 and Mi 7 Plus may debut together with 2,699 Yuan (~$408) and 2,999 Yuan (~$453) pricing in March next year.

Do you think that the Chinese company will release two variants of Mi 7 next year? What is your opinion on the rumored specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 7 duo? Share us your views by adding your comments below.

Nokia 9 to Launch on January 19 Alongside the Nokia 8 (2018): Report

Highlights

HMD Global is rumoured to be hosting an event in China on January 19

Nokia 9 to said to be the showstopper at the China event

Price details of the next Nokia flagship also surfaced online

After some leaks and rumours, it is now reported that HMD Global is hosting an event in China on January 19 to formally unveil the Nokia 9. The Finnish company is said to showcase the Nokia 8 (2018) in addition to its next flagship model at the Chinese event. Last month, we saw a protective case of the Nokia 9 listed online that revealed its entire build.

Chinese site MyDrivers reported that the Nokia 9 and the next-generation Nokia 8 both will have customised experience for the Chinese market. This suggests that the handsets may not have Google services and will instead come with some local counterparts. Also, HMD is likely to offer a custom ROM on both the smartphones to match the preferences of Chinese customers.

In addition to unearthing the announcement schedule, MyDrivers has leaked a screenshot that appears to detail the prices of the Nokia 9. The leaked screenshot shows that the Nokia 9 with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage will go on sale in China for CNY 3,699 (approximately Rs. 36,000), whereas its other version with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage will be available for CNY 4,199 (roughly Rs. 40,900).

If we believe some ongoing rumours, the Nokia 9 will feature a 5.5-inch QHD display and would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC. The protective case of the smartphone that was spotted on Amazon UK pointed at a curved-glass display, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. The case also suggested that handset would have a back-facing fingerprint scanner and a dual-camera setup. Further, the smartphone is expected to have USB Type-C port and is likely to run Android Oreo out-of-the-box.

Similar to the Nokia 9, the Nokia 8 (2018) is likely to come with a Snapdragon 835 SoC and the latest Android Oreo experience. HMD Global started rolling out an Oreo update for its 2017 Nokia 8 last month. That new version upgraded the smartphone with a list of features such as Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, notification dots, and an enhanced Settings menu. It also included the November security patch.

OnePlus 5T leaked in full on Reddit and Twitter
OnePlus 5T leaks today seem to have spilled all the beans – specs, photos, and the whole lot. This next-gen smartphone seems to be similar to its predecessor without being nearly as much of a 1:1 comparable device as the 3T was to the 3. Here, OnePlus seems to have given the device the boost it needs not just on the inside, but in its display and around the edges, as well.

Today leaks were provided by Dejii as well as the OnePlus Report community Twitter (unofficial), as well as recent leaks from a variety of sources – all listed in the timeline below this article. They include full specifications as well as the clearest look yet we've gotten of this OnePlus 5T smartphone. The photo – if it's important to anyone behind the scenes – seems to originate in Germany – UPDATE: Apparently some, if not all, of the photos from Germany come from Sarai Griffin.

This smartphone's leaked specs – not necessarily official, we'll see – include a pair of high-powered cameras at the back on this smartphone and a single (also powerful) camera up front. All camera sensors on this smartphone seem to be Sony IMX-branded, which generally means they're going to be fairly reliable. The backside pair of cameras also has dual LED flash in full effect.

The only difference between the cameras on this device and those of the 5 are in the “Secondary” image sensor, which now has an aperture of f/1.7 instead of f/2.6. This image sensor is now an IMX 376K instead of IMX 350. As such, image quality might be just a tiny bit better – we'll see.
The frontside display is listed today as 6.01-inches AMOLED with a resolution of 1080p FHD+ (Full High Definition Plus) (that's 1080 x 2160 pixels for a pixels per inch total of 401). This smartphone's display has an aspect ratio of 18:9, and its display is covered by a pane of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The amount of pixels in this device's display will be roughly the same per inch as its predecessor – that had 1080 x 1920, with a shorter display. Longer display, more pixels, same PPI (401).

As you'll see at the head of this article, an image from Juan Pablo shows the OnePlus 5 compared to the OnePlus 5T with dimensions basically matching those we're seeing this afternoon in leaked documents. The corners there might be a bit more curved than they are in the real deal – but still, it's a decent point of reference. That set of renders shows the difference in display on these two devices is significant – especially given the dimensions of the smartphone, which are less than a millimeter different in all directions.

Above you'll see additional images of specs as well as phone images (if any more appear between now and launch time. This smartphone is set to be revealed and up for sale SOON. Stick around as we get our hands on the real deal for review, soon!

Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s Image Leaks, Shows an iPhone X-Like Notch
Highlights

Mi MIX 2s believed to be Mi MIX 2's upgrade
Alleged Mi MIX 2s leaked with an iPhone X-like notch
The smartphone said to sport bezel-less display
Xaiomi may have already started working on its third-generation Mi MIX edge-to-edge display smartphone. If a new image surfaced online is to be believed then the next Mi MIX smartphone will sport an iPhone X-like notch. Chinese Twitter equivalent Weibo has some images purportedly claiming to show the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s which can be expected to be an upgrade of some sort to the current Mi MIX 2 smartphone. The shared images show the alleged handset in the wild and tip a notch at the top of the handset - just like the infamous notch on the iPhone X.
The leaked images further tip that the next Mi MIX smartphone will retain the highlight of the series which is bezel-less smartphone. Much like the iPhone X, the notch at the top, however, looks weird. The leaked images hint that the alleged Mi MIX 2s will include the sensors, earpiece, and front camera in the notch at the top. Unfortunately, there's no information on the anticipated Mi MIX 2s handset at the moment. The leaked images were posted on Weibo, and were first picked up by GSM Arena.
With Apple jumping into the bezel-less bandwagon with its iPhone X, and other companies like Samsung with its Galaxy S8 as well as other devices like Essential Phone, we can expect the edge-to-edge displays play major role in upcoming smartphones. It's a little surprising Xiaomi would take this route however. While many of its designs arguably copy Apple shamelessly, it has taken great pride in pointing out the innovative design of the Mi MIX series. At its launch events, both in China and India, the company also spoke about how it avoided the notch on its smartphone with decisions like an ultrasonic proximity sensor, the 'hidden sound-guided speaker', and of course, the front facing camera being placed on the bottom lip of the smartphone.
Of course, as with all rumours and leaks, we advise readers to take the above information about the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2s with a pinch of salt, as Xiaomi has yet to make any announcements about its new flagship smartphone and the credibility of the sources cannot be independently verified.
Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, the premium bezel-less smartphone from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, is currently on sale in some markets including India. The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 price in India is Rs. 35,999. One of the biggest highlights of the Mi MIX 2 is its 5.99-inch full-HD (1080x2160 pixels) 18:9 display with a pixel density of 403ppi and a DCI-P3 colour gamut.
